In Heavenly Places, in Christ Jesus
Eph 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.”
In heavenly places doesn’t just refer to a specific location in heaven but to a sphere of life where the believer can live in the realm of the Spirit, or the 4th dimensional world. In this sphere of life, as born again believers we rule over Satan and this world through the authority and dominion of our Lord Jesus Christ. “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” Eph 6:12.
The believer in Christ enjoys on this earth the heavenly blessings which are spiritual and heavenly. These blessings which are bestowed upon us are of God the Father, in God the Son, through God the Spirit. Therefore, they are heavenly in nature, state, as well as character.
Christ is the virtue or the instrument, in which God has blessed us, and outside or apart from Him, God has nothing to do with us. Again, these blessings are different from those with which God blessed Israel with, which are physical and earthly.
It’s about time we pay attention to our “in” Christ position and become aware of the fact that whatever blessing we experience is through our “union” with Him. Therefore, “in Christ, by Him, or Through Him” is exactly what it means, and aside Him there is nothing for the believer.
In the 1st Chapter of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians beginning in verse 4, we are introduced to some of the blessings the believer can experience because he is united to Christ in his spirit. “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.” 1Cor 6:17
“Just as He chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy before Him in love.” Eph 1:4
According to this portion of scripture, God has chosen or selected us “in Christ” before He created this world. This proves that this world was created for man’s existence and to fulfil God’s eternal purpose. The word “before him” found in this scripture, indicates that the believer is holy and without blame in God’s eyes, or according to His divine standard, so that he can qualify to enjoy God’s eternal presence within him.
The believer is also holy or sanctified, set apart and without blame, because God has imparted part of Himself (Christ the holy One) into his spirit, so that he can become permeated and saturated with the divine nature of God. “By which, have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”2Pet 1:4
The church of Jesus Christ which is heavenly in character does not belong to this earth, and therefore should live in heavenly places, through her position “in Christ Jesus.” “And raised us up together and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” Eph 2:6
Have you noticed that the blessings in heavenly places are in Christ Jesus? What a glorious truth!....
In Christ our all.†
